В ХР-е можно и не менять, а вот Виста имеет просто отвратительный бутскрин - просто черный экран. Один из этих бутскринов был бы очень кстати.

Да, я видел эту прогу, просто тоже прочитал, что Висту не поддерживает :(

Вот кое-чего нашел:

Here, some people found a way to change that black boot screen of windows vista to a high quality one, the one that was supposed to be in before it was cut from the final version.

The only thing I didn't like is that the progress bar doesn't move. If you want one that it moves, the image has to be a 16bit only.


Installatin instructions:
1. Take ownership of the folders %SystemRoot%\system32\en-US and %SystemRoot%\system32\Boot\en-US, then give yourself RW privileges.
2. Take ownership of the files %SystemRoot%\system32\en-US\winload.exe.mui and %SystemRoot%\system32\Boot\en-US\winload.exe.mui, then give yourself RW privileges.
3. Select your screen aspect ratio (most screens are 4:3, 1280*1024 ones are 5:4, most widescreens are 16:9, some notebooks are 16:10) and the wanted progress bar color.
4. Copy winload.exe.mui from the folder that contains your chosen bar color and screen aspect ratio version (for example, greenbar\4.3) to %SystemRoot%\system32\en-US and %SystemRoot%\system32\Boot\en-US, overwriting previous files.
5. Enable "No GUI Boot" using Msconfig (if it isn't enabled yet).

Uninstallation Instructions
1. If you had "No GUI Boot" disabled before installing this boot screen, disable it using Msconfig.
2. Copy winload.exe.mui from the "Original" folder to %SystemRoot%\system32\en-US and %SystemRoot%\system32\Boot\en-US, overwriting any previous files.

ЗЫ: Там еще в коментариях приписка, если не получается поставить по вышеописанному алгоритму:

do it from safemode, start > run and type the following
cmd
cd windows
cd system32
cd en-us p
takeown /f winload.exe.mui

right click file winload.exe.mui from the folder where it is located, click security tab, click ya user name then click the edit button
then click ya user name again in the next window then click all the ALLOW check boxes and the click ok on both windows. saying yes to any warnings. now you can rename & replace the winload.exe.mui file.

hope that made sense.

В дополнение - описания что делать шаг-за-шагом (шоб не перепутать ;) ):

1. Just to be on the safe side, I disabled UAC. You can disable it by going to Run (hit Winkey+R) and typing in MSCONFIG. Then go to the Tools tab and launch Disable UAC. Also, while in MSCONFIG, click on the Boot tab and put a checkmark next to NO GUI BOOT. Click OK, then reboot.
2. Right click on the start button and click on Explore. Then navigate to your Windows/System32/en-US folder and look for the file called winload.exe.mui.
3. Right click on winload.exe.mui and click on Properties. Then click on the Security tab. Then click on Advanced. From there, click on the Owner tab and click on Edit. Then in the panel below Change Owner to: click on your user account/Administrators and click OK. Then click OK again.
4. This should take you back to the Security options. From that window, click on Edit. Then click on your user name/Administrators and assign yourself Full Control of the file. Then click ok and close out so your back in windows explorer.
5. Now navigate to the Windows/System32\Boot\en-US folder. Follow steps 3 and 4 to give yourself full control and ownership of windows.exe.mui in that directory.
6. Now reboot into safemode. Once in safemode, open the .RAR file you downloaded from the link provided. Find the folder that matches the winload.exe.mui that you want. (for instance, I wanted the redbar with the 16:9 aspect, so I navigated to the coordinating folders).
7. Double click on Computer. Double click on the drive Vista is on and again, navigate to Windows\System32\en-US. Right click on winload.exe.mui and click on rename. Rename it to something like winload.exe.bak (I suggest doing this just to keep the old file in case you want to easily switch back).
8. Now go to the .RAR file and drag the winload.exe.mui from there into the Windows/System32/en-US folder.
9. Now navigate to the Windows/System32\Boot\en-US folder and repeat steps 7 and 8 for that folder. Then reboot and you should see the new bootscreen!

А как установит на бут если дано 4 файла - Progress Bar, Back, и файли bootskin(параметры конфигурации). Я просто раньше делал через прогу Bootscreen

в "TuneUp Utilities 2007" есть функция замены бутскрина для ХР.
